NDCA TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT ALLOWANCES FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE WDC-AL WORLD AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS
 
NDCA travel allowance reimbursements prizes totaling up to $42,000.00 will be awarded as follows:
 
Couples who place in the top two positions in the following events held in Orlando, Florida September 9-11, 2021 are eligible to receive up to a $1,000.00 travel reimbursement allowance (per couple) from the National Dance Council of America (NDCA) if they attend the 2021 WDC-AL World Amateur Championship, and if they dance for the United States of America at that event.  If the WDC-AL World Amateur Championships are not held in 2021 then these NDCA Travel Allowances from 2021 will NOT carry over to the 2022 WDC-AL World Amateur Championships.  These World Championships are scheduled for November 8-14, 2021 to be held in Holland.  You may find information on this event at https://dansinternationaal.nl/

1 - Should any of the eligible couples from each event not attend the world championships, then the successive couples from the final, in order, become eligible for the $1,000.00 travel reimbursement allowance.  All finalists in each division, except for the Amateur Ten-Dance, are receiving this letter, so that in the event any couple placing 3rd through 6th, 7th, or 8th becomes eligible for a travel reimbursement allowance they will understand the procedures.  Only couples who dance in the final may become eligible for these travel reimbursement allowances, and only the top two couples in the Amateur Ten-Dance may become eligible.
 
2 - Partner changes are not allowed.
 
3 - A couple may qualify for multiple travel reimbursement allowances if they qualify in more than one event in the U.S. National Amateur DanceSport Championships.  However, any one couple may only qualify for a maximum of two travel reimbursement allowances, even though they may have placed in the top two of three or more events.
 
4 - All travel allowances will be awarded following the conclusion of the world championships in November of 2021.
 
5 - If an eligible finalist couple moves from one division to another between September and November (including amateur to professional) they are still eligible for the NDCA travel reimbursement allowance that they earned in September if they dance at the WDC-AL World Amateur Championship.  Examples would be a couple moving from Junior I to Junior II, or Senior I to Senior II.  Couples are not required to compete at the WDC-AL World Amateur Championships in the style that they danced in Orlando to qualify for a travel reimbursement allowance, but they must compete in at least one style (Ballroom or Latin) at the WDC-AL World Amateur Championship to qualify for a travel allowance.  Additionally, should a couple change to another country in the time period between when they qualify and when they attend the world championships, they will not be eligible for an NDCA travel reimbursement allowance.
 
6 - If you do in fact attend the WDC-AL World Amateur Championships, then you should do the following upon your return in order to receive your travel reimbursement:
A - When you return from the championship you should submit your travel receipts to Dennis Rogers, Treasurer of the NDCA. Please note that you must contact Mr. Rogers no later than February 1, 2022 if you wish to receive any travel reimbursement from the NDCA.
B - Allowable travel expenses that may be turned in for reimbursement are limited to:
- Airline Tickets - Economy class only (no Business or First Class, etc)
- Airport Parking - up to a maximum of $150.00
- Airport Shuttle, Taxis, Uber, etc - up to a maximum of $175.00 total
- Hotel - up to two nights maximum only if the organizer has not already provided accommodations (no upgraded rooms)
C - No travel reimbursements may be issued unless supporting receipts are provided
D - Mr. Rogers will issue each couple up to the amount of $1,000.00 from the NDCA as a travel reimbursement, according to the receipts turned in.
E - Any travel expenses not reimbursed by the NDCA will need to be absorbed by the couples themselves.
F - You must send Mr. Rogers your mailing address so that he will know where to send your reimbursement check.
